Complex Decongestive Therapy in the Physical Therapist Management of Rosacea-Related Edema (Morbus Morbihan Syndrome): A Case Report with a New Approach

Abstract Objective: The aim of this case report was to describe the use complete decongestive therapy (CDT) with a new approach in management male patient facial edema related Morbus Morbihan Syndrome (MMS). Methods: An 18-year-old MMS after acne treatment subject report. Volume assessment performed distance measurements area using standard reference points, overflow method, and measurement percentage subdermal fluid. Patient-reported symptoms lymphedema (feeling swelling tightness) body image perception were evaluated “Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)”, severity anxiety “State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)”. In addition, patient’s improvement determined Likert-type scale. Evaluations at baseline, week-4 (during treatment) week-8 (immediately treatment). CDT applied total 24 sessions, 3 days week for 8 weeks. Results: Compared baseline measurement, distances (tragus-mental cavity, tragus-mouth corner, mandibula-nasal canal, mandibula-internal orbita, mandibula-external mental cavity-internal cavity-mandibula, right–left tragus, hairline forehead-mental cavity), volume fluid found be decreased 4th 8th measurements. score, reports feelings tightness, improved 8-weeks compared baseline. Conclusion: This described treating MMS. Body level improved.
